Born on July 16, 1951, Larry lived a life marked by energy, humor, music, a deep engagement with the world around him, and love for his family and community of neighbors in Corte Madera. He is survived by his wife, Helen Maniates; his daughters, Zoe Garvin (Sal Rivas) and Lia Garvin (Wes Sularz); his granddaughters, Maya and Eleni; his sister, Bonnie Garvin (Jim Lafferty); and his dog, Penny.
A green burial will be held at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley, California, at 12:30 p.m. on September 26, 2026. A celebration of life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
