Whether someone you love has passed, or you are looking to secure arrangements for the future, choosing funeral services and merchandise can be overwhelming. Our kind and knowledgeable counselors will guide you through any questions you may have. To familiarize you with some of your options, here is a list of some of the mortuary services we offer.

FUNERAL GOODS AND SERVICES

Basic Service of the Funeral Director and Staff:

This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of funeral arrangements you select. Items in this category may include personnel services, the arrangement conference, coordination services, clerical assistance and overhead expenses.

Transfer of Remains to Funeral Home:

This is the service of bringing your loved one into our care. The fee covers transportation from place of death (or Coroner’s office) to our facility, within a 30 mile radius.

Embalming:

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law.

Other Preparation of the Deceased:

There are costs associated with services such as dressing and cosmetizing, and/or preparation of the body when not being embalmed.

Use of Facilities and Staff for Viewing:

This includes the use the chapel on the grounds of Fernwood as well as supervisory staff, for the purpose of Viewing or Visitation.

Use of Facilities and Staff for Funeral Ceremony:

This includes the use the chapel on the grounds of Fernwood as well as supervisory staff, for the purpose of Service or Ceremony with decedent present.

Use of Facilities and Staff for Memorial Service:

This includes the use the chapel on the grounds of Fernwood as well as supervisory staff, for the purpose of Memorial Service (no decedent present).

Use of Staff for Graveside Service:

This includes supervisory staff for the purpose of a service at interment location on our grounds.

Forwarding of Remains to Another Funeral Home:

Includes minimal services necessary to forward a decedent to a receiving mortuary.

Receiving Remains from Another Funeral Home:

Includes minimal services necessary to receive a decedent from another mortuary.

Direct Burial:

Includes minimal services necessary for the direct, often unwitnessed, burial of a decedent. This service implies no ceremony or viewing beforehand.

Direct Cremation:

Includes minimal services necessary for the direct cremation of a decedent. This service implies no ceremony or viewing beforehand.

Utility Vehicle:

Vehicle utilized for the transportation of a casket to and from place of funeral service and/or burial.

Adult Caskets:

We offer a variety of caskets and alternative containers. Our adult casket prices range from $1,690 to $21,640. Our Alternative Containers (for cremation) range from $500 to $3,175. A complete casket price list can be provided by our funeral home.

Outer Burial Containers:

Traditionally, the purpose of an outer burial container is to protect the casket from the weight of the earth above and to prevent the entrance of outside elements. Outer Burial Containers – or “vaults”- are not required by law, but cemeteries may require them if they so desire.
