Albert “Al” Repola, of San Rafael, California, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the age of 97.
Born in New York City on December 28, 1928, to Cosimo Repola and Matilda Mariotti Repola, Al spent most of his life in New York. He grew up in Harlem, later lived in Brooklyn, and eventually settled in West Islip in 1966, where he and his beloved wife, Ruby DiSalvo Repola, raised their two children. Al and Ruby shared 63 years of marriage until her passing on January 18, 2020.
Al proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during which he was stationed in Korea. His service remained a meaningful part of his life and a source of quiet pride.
A true craftsman and mechanic, Al had an extraordinary ability to build, repair, or solve just about anything. There was no project too big, no problem too complex—he approached each one with skill, patience, and a steady confidence that reassured everyone around him. His kindness, gentle nature, generosity, and deep well of patience defined him as much as his talents.
Following Ruby’s passing, Al relocated to California, where he spent the last six years of his life living with his daughter. Surrounded by family and the peaceful beauty of Northern California, he enjoyed a gentle and loving final chapter.
Al was the last surviving member of his generation. He was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony, Armando, and Arthur Repola, and his sisters Josephine Repola Sinno and Pearl Repola DiIuro.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Repola, and his son, Albert Repola.
Al will be remembered for his long life, his unwavering love and devotion to Ruby, and the deep love he held for his children, nieces, and nephews. His steady presence and generous spirit will be cherished always.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held this summer at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
