Anne Mulder Maurice

July 12, 1951 – January 25, 2026

Anne Mulder Maurice passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, creativity, and lifelong devotion to teaching and family.

Anne was a teacher, mentor, and trusted friend to countless people throughout her life. She had an innate ability to connect with others and a deep desire to help, guide, and uplift those around her, no matter the circumstance. Her kindness was steady and genuine, and her door and her heart were always open.

A passionate world traveler, Anne believed deeply in the value of experiencing the world firsthand. She embraced different cultures, cuisines, and traditions with curiosity and joy, and she formed meaningful friendships wherever she went. Travel was not just a hobby for Anne. It was a way she taught others, especially her son, how to live with openness, empathy, and wonder.

Family was the center of Anne’s life. Born to Jerry B. Mulder (1925–1999) and Katherine A. Kaverley (1924–1972), Anne shared an especially close bond with her four siblings, Elizabeth, Jerry (Connie), Stephen (Colleen), and Katherine, as well as her many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved deeply. Her sister Katherine (Katie) was her best friend, constant companion, and favorite travel partner. Their relationship was built on laughter, loyalty, and countless shared adventures, and the two were truly inseparable.

Anne was the devoted mother of her son, Brett (Janel), and nothing made her prouder than the life he built. In March of last year, Anne became a grandmother to her beloved grandson, Carter. From the moment he was born, Carter became her greatest joy and her whole world. She cherished every moment with him and embraced her role as grandmother with overwhelming love and pride.

Anne dedicated over 40 years of her life to teaching at Marin Academy, where she also shared her deep love for the arts. She cared profoundly for her students and took pride in every generation she taught, often sharing stories that reflected the lasting relationships she built over decades in the classroom. Teaching was not just her profession. It was her calling. One of her most meaningful experiences was having the privilege of teaching her own son as a student in the Marin Academy graduating class of 2004.

Anne will be remembered for her warmth, intelligence, creativity, generosity of spirit, and unwavering dedication to the people she loved. Her impact lives on through her family, her former students, and the many lives she touched simply by being herself.

A celebration of life will be held at Fernwood Funeral Home in Mill Valley, CA, on February 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at Tam Tavern.
